17. LIPP Symposium: Parts of Speech
Linguistisches Internationales Promotionsprogramm (LIPP) – a part of the Graduate Centre of Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München – is holding a conference on parts of speech from July 6-7 2012 in Munich. For this occasion, we welcome abstract submissions for the following topics:
- Parts of speech from a cross-linguistic perspective with emphasis on the problems with using parts of speech in cross-linguistic research
- The role and importance of parts of speech in first and second language acquisition
- Conceptual layers and foundations of parts of speech/parts of speech in mind and brain
Parts of speech belong to one of the earliest findings in modern linguistics, yet there are still disputes among scholars concerning the different dimensions of parts of speech. In this conference, we aim to investigate parts of speech from three different perspectives. Guests will have the opportunity to hear the latest developments and discussions on parts of speech research by invited speakers, who are experts in this field. In addition to the guest lectures, oral sessions (20 min. plus 10 min. of discussion) and a poster session are planned. We also welcome PhD students to present their research on parts of speech with the opportunity to discuss any problematic areas
